If you’ve ever participated in Secondhand Sunday in Ladies of Lex, you already know — it’s a wild, beautiful, chaotic, deal-filled day. But let’s be real… some of y’all are doing the most, and it’s time for a little refresher on how to do it right. 👀
Whether you’re cleaning out your closet or on the hunt for a good find, here’s a quick etiquette guide to keep Secondhand Sunday smooth, fair, and drama-free.

👛 FOR SELLERS:
1. Stop Pricing Like It’s Chanel.
It’s called secondhand, not still full price plus tax and shipping! If someone can get it brand new for less, don’t be shocked when nobody bites. A good rule of thumb is to aim for 50% or less of the original price — unless it’s new with tags or a hot item.
2. Post It All in ONE Thread.
No one wants to scroll through 15 separate posts from you. Group your items together, use clear pics, and list prices underneath each one. Keep the feed clean, babes!
3. Don’t Screenshot Stock Photos.
Post actual photos of the item — not screenshots from a website or old online listing. People want to see your item, not an Amazon listing.
4. No Sneaky Business Ads.
Secondhand Sunday is not the place to advertise your boutique or push your products. If you’re a small biz or selling merch, that’s an ad — and we have space for that. Don’t try to sneak it in here. Respect the rules.
5. Pay Attention to the Rules.
We do not allow the sale of:
- Boats or vehicles (too many scams)
- Luxury goods like designer bags, perfumes, high-end watches, etc.
These are high-risk items that attract scammers and drama. Even if it’s real, we just don’t allow it here. Check the group rules — they’re clear.
🎟 Ticket sales are allowed any day, but only if you’ve paid the ticket listing fee. No exceptions. This protects the group from scams and keeps it fair for everyone.
6. STOP Posting Early.
We love your enthusiasm, but Secondhand Sunday posts should only be made on Sundays!
Posting on Friday or Saturday clogs our queue and actually hurts your chances of being seen — your post will likely get buried under hundreds of others. Wait until Sunday like everyone else so your listing doesn’t get lost.

🛍️ FOR BUYERS:
1. Do Your Homework.
If the seller has 3 friends, no profile photo, and their account was created yesterday? Maybe skip it. Check their profile before committing to anything.
2. Never Send Money First.
We cannot stress this enough: meet in person in a public place and inspect the item before handing over cash or payment. If someone asks you to pay upfront or “hold” the item, it’s a red flag.. unless they’ve sold a lot in the group and have built up that trust or you’ve bought from them before… don’t do it!
3. Stop Commenting “F.”
Seriously. Just stop! You don’t have to flood the post with “F” to follow it. Just click the three dots in the top right of the post and hit “Turn on notifications for this post” or save it for later. It’s cleaner and way less annoying.
💡 One Last Thing
Secondhand Sunday was created as a fun way to declutter, connect, and find good deals from real women right here in our community. Let’s keep it honest, helpful, and fair for everyone.
If you want to promote your business or post more frequently — we’ve got ad options for that too!
